Pizza Subs

October 25th 2007 07:34

Toppings:
Large garlic bread
Fresh mushroom, sliced
1 green capsicum (green pepper), sliced
1/2 onion, sliced
1 can pineapple pieces, drained
Cherry tomatoes, halved
Feta or cheddar cheese

Seasoning:
1 can fresh tomato sauce
Extra virgin olive oil
Fresh basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon fresh oregano

1. Place the garlic bread in a hot oven (200C) for about 10-12 mins until golden brown.
2. Remove garlic bread from oven and spread some tomato sauce on the bread.
3. Place required amount of toppings on the garlic bread, making sure the cheese is the last to go on the bread.
3. Top with the seasonings, including olive oil, basil leaves and fresh oregano.
4. Return to oven and cook for a further 10-12 mins until the cheese has started to melt and the vegetables are turning brown.
5. Remove from oven and top with pepper and sea salt before serving with a side salad.

Hi Frida,
Thanks a lot. I have been a vegetarian all my life. When I was growing up my parents taught me that it was against our religion (I'm a Jain) to kill animals and therefore we could not eat meat. I have experimented with meat as I was growing up, but I have to say that I have made a personal and lifestyle choice to be a vegetarian. Living in Australia, I also find it very easy to be one here as people are aware of the concept, and of course Australia has wonderful produce! I hope to see you on my site again.

Thanks Stanley. For a variation, you can also add some potatoes and zucchini on the pizza sub. Just fry them in a pan with some olive oil, dried oregano, dried basil, tuscan seasoning (optional), sea salt and pepper.
Enjoy!
